We've had a bit of stick about aCurator Magazine being a Flash website. I'm really happy that anyone would be that upset they can't view the mag on their iPad! Without getting into a game of comment tennis, I'm writing this entry to point my readers to Adobe's latest statement on Flash and creative freedom.

"At Adobe, we believe that the open flow of creativity, ideas, and information should be limited only by the imagination. Innovation thrives when people are free to choose the technologies that enable them to openly express themselves and access information where and when they want. Everyone loses when technological barriers impede the exchange of ideas."

I may have been a little grumpy but I wouldn't have called it stick :) More like a wizened internet veteran who has had to wrestle with accessibility, SEO and crashy Flash apps too much. I've also struggled with various gallery solutions for the web from Photoshelter to Wordpress plugins and have only just found one I'm vaguely happy with.

The iPad (and similar devices) will be game-changers for showing photography. Will photographers send out their portfolios pre-loaded onto iPads in the future?

As for Apple vs. Adobe: Jobs is dead right. Flash is crashy, a resource hog and there are now, in this HTML5 world, much better alternatives.

What's most important is that the site does what you want and for your target audience. And I understand that you had in-house Flash resource to hand :)

aCurator is a great site and don't let the knockers affect your vision!
